Time for a rebound to the Tennessee curse. Since beating the Vols at home the Dawgs have failed to secure a victory at home or on the road. Tonight they take on #18 Vandy. So get out of the cold and watch the dawgs take to the court. If you can't make it, just open a cold one.

Some notes from

A geographical breakdown of the series follows:
Games in Athens: UGA leads 32-26
Games in Nashville: VU leads 49-13
Neutral-Court Games: VU leads 5-3

A couple other notes about Leslie: of the top 20 rebounders in the SEC, he is the shortest at 6’4” and the only one listed as a guard. Leslie has attempted just nine 3-point shots in 46 collegiate games and has made four. Two of his makes came Wednesday night in the Arkansas game.

The Bulldogs’ per-game scoring average through six SEC games (72.4 ppg) is actually 4.4 points higher than their overall average. That’s a rarity indeed; not since 2001 has a Georgia team’s final SEC-games average been higher than its final overall scoring average.

Some notes from

The Commodores, who are 3-1 on the road in SEC play this year, are looking to match a Stallings-era best (since 1999-00) for most road wins in a season at Georgia on Saturday. Vanderbilt won four road games in the 2005-06 campaign, and last started 4-1 on the road in league play in 1966-67.

In Vanderbilt's last 12 games, the Commodores are 11-1 in those games and are averaging 82.2 points per game is shooting 52.0% in that span. A.J. Ogilvy and Jermaine Beal have led the team in scoring in those games with 14.8 points per contest apiece. The team also has 190 assists against only 165 turnovers, and is knocking down 42.6% of its shots from beyond-the-arc in their last 12 games. FreshmanJohn Jenkins has led the way from three, converting on 57.9% of his three-point attempts (33-for-57).

Tale of Two Halves - Dawgs Win

Well, in a game that should have been as easy as the final score, the game against the Florida Atlantic Owls was anything but easy. The Owls coached by Mike Jarvis, came in ready to play. The Dawgs on the other hand were already on Christmas break.

We came out slow, could not play defense nor offense. Passing was terrible and the game play was just the pits. Only saving grace was the Owls never got too far away. Had this been a good team, we would have never been able to catch them. Our play reminded me of our football team at time with the way we let them control the course of things.

In the second half, you could tell that Coach Mark Fox really got through to the team. They came out and pulled away. The worst part was we tried to blow the lead we had. Up as much as 20 in the second half, we let the Owls back in it as they flirted with crossing the double digit lead a few times. If I remember right, they got it down to 9 at one point. Like the game against the Illini, we blew a lead and in both cases we held on. I'm hoping we can start working on putting teams away.

A couple of things that I heard on the post game show.

  • Dawgs get 3 days off before facing the Waves on Dec 30th
  • The team doesn't have a true vocal leader although Albert Jackson seems to be the leader by actions
  • Coaches will be shopping today

Also, the crowd wasn't too bad. With the students out we still had a fair number in the stands. I'm hoping at some point the fans will realize that we have a team that will be fun to watch.

Hope some of you were able to catch the live streams I did. Not sure how many I will do in the future, but I will tweet it out when I do.

I'll leave you will the stats.

Dawgs vs Florida Atlantic

Coming off a great win over the illini, the dawgs take on Florida Atlantic tonight. I'm leaning towards an easy win for the dawgs, with some bench play for those at the end.

I imagine a sparse crowd, so if you are in town, swing over and catch the dawgs. This is also your chance to see real basketball at Georgia. I know that since I have followed the dawgs, this stands the best chance of being a real team.

In the past, we had better players on teams that made runs, but now it's being done as a team. I'm hoping to finish the year with a few when, as Pepperdine comes in next week.

On a side note, I may try to stream some of the dance dawgs. Will stay away from live game play for the time being.

Game time : 7pm no TV at last look.

Should I Predict A Winner

It's that time of year where kids dress in goulish outfits while hunting candy. It's also that time of year where adults steal their kids candy.

It's also Gameday.

This is no ordinary game day. This is the Worlds Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.

This game is not just the next game.

This is the game that will define seasons.

This is the game that will produce heroes.

This is the game that will bring grown men to tears.

This is the game you tell your kids about.

This is the Georgia-Florida game.

So where do we go from here. Personally and emotionally I don't want to predict this game. This game has caused many a heartbreak over the years for me. So a few questions need to be asked.

So questions about this game, this year are numerous.

Is this the year Georgia turns the table and starts a new streak of wins against the Gators?

Is this the year where Georgia beats another Heisman winner from the swamp?

Can Georgia stop the not so mighty Gator Offense?

Is this the year, where people can stop talking about the glory days as seen on YouTube and begin to create new ones?

I can answer these, but I know I would like these to be YES.

One sad thing about this game, there now kids that have never seen Georgia win two in a row angainst the Gators, much less dominating the series. This is something I want to see changed.

So now I have to make my prediction. But it's not easy. Haven seen both the Dawgs and Gators play this year, I wonder if it will be a 47-42 game or a 6-3 game.

For me I'll make a prediction, if only from the heart.

UGA 27 UF 24

UGA vs TN, Lowlights

UGA 19 -  TN 45

This is a quick one, only because we stank up the joint so bad, that I can't muster the ability to put any heart into this post. Truly one of the greatest plays was when Peachtree TV went out in the second half.

As with most, the FIRE someone chant is heating up, I just don't know where to go, Offense, Defense, ST, Various Ass't coaches, Head Coach. All I know is someone has to pay for the poor performance that we have had this year. I don't care what is said, something needs to be done. So Damon and Richt, better start looking at resumes because some fresh blood is needed.

The Good, what there was

  • Special Teams scored 12 points. Blocked punt for a safety, 100yd KO return and a 53yd Field Goal.
  • Defense had a pick 6
  • Drew Butler had 6 punts for 299 yards for an average of 49.8.
  • Blair Walsh has a 53yd FG, gaining on Rex Robinson and other for 2nd place in 50+ yard field goals

That's all the I saw that was good. So that leaves the bad, and there was plenty of it.

  • Coach Willie got schooled by a newbie
  • Our Defense made the Tennessee QB Crompton look like a Heisman Candidate.
  • Our Offense still has no running game, 22 for 89 yards, avg of 4 yards. Longest run 17 yards
  • Offensive game plan needs to end the 3 yard screen pass when we are 3rd and long. Hasn't worked and won't until the above running game is fixed.
  • Defense gave up too many big plays.
  • Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers, 2 INTs and 1 Fumble
  • Play calling on both sides of the ball, 'nuff said. It stank.

We were all hoping that this game would be the one that we had the complete game, we once again, we leave disappointed and cussing.

I used to think, hey we have Vandy coming up and think, "yea they play us tough, but we win." Now I'm not to sure.

So Dawgs, pour a drink or 10, as I think we have hit bottom, if not, it's damn close.

Random Thoughts #3

It's a Monday. Could this be the worst day of the week? Well, I guess any day that is not a weekend or Friday is pretty bad. So here are some thoughts going through my brain on a rainy Monday in Georgia.

  • I've heard of snow days, but not rain days. Several local schools are closed due to so much rain. BTW, this isn't even close to a record. We had 14-15 days straight with Alberto.
  • Do the voters in America now want to vote for a different kind of change. Apparently since Obama's approval rating is starting to look Wal*Mart slashed price aisle.
  • Can Georgia continue to outscore teams, now that we found an offense. Or have the other's defense been that bad.
  • How many meetings in one day or one week is too many? Today alone I have seven, five of which I'll actually be able to attend.
  • Why does "The Jay Leno Show" look like "The Tonight Show" from last year. Not a lot of originality there NBC.
  • Why do cats have the sudden desire to be in another room, thus breaking the sound barrier. Only to run back and fall asleep.
  • Why do dentists and doctors always try to talk to you when they have their fingers in places fingers are not supposed to be.
  • Does Tennessee have a good defense or did the Gators take it easy. I'm betting the Vols may have shown a weakness in the "Mighty" Gators.
So until next time, using a line from Star Wars, "Stay on Target, Stay on Target," all without getting shot at.

Georgia-Arkansas First Reaction

The game is over 52-41. Yes, you saw that correctly, we did drop 52 on the board thanks to 5 TDs by Joe Cox. So what did I see.

  • Coach, hell, I can't even call him a coach, Martinez is an idiot and needs to go. How do you scheme, where you leave the TE or WR so open they can eat dinner and still get YAC yards.
  • Joe came to play. I think he kept us going with his "tired" arm.
  • We are going to lead the country in penalties.
  • We still forget that we have running backs and tight ends.
  • Why do we stick a 5-10 guy on a 6-3 guy all night. Oh yea, Ole Willie.
  • Blair Walsh can kick. Hey Coach Fab, let him kick it deep. We can't keep letting teams start on the 40.
  • We can't string together a game where all sides play well.
  • AJ is superman. AJ is a beast. Glad we have him for one more year at least.
  • We found someone to play opposite AJ. Say hello to Mike Moore.
  • Have to stop the turnovers.
  • Good legs run in the Butler family. Damn Drew can kick the hell out of the ball. Note to Drew, don't listen to Coach Fab, he'll have you kicking it out of bounds at the 40.
  • We still don't put teams away.
  • We have to cut down on turnovers, period

If every game is like this one, don't think I'll make it all year.
